What to Expect at Your First Visit & Important Patient Resources

At Bedford Center for Prosthodontics, we are committed to providing exceptional care in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Whether you're visiting us for a routine consultation, a restorative procedure, or a complex prosthodontic treatment, our team is here to guide you every step of the way.

We understand that visiting a specialist for the first time can feel overwhelming. This page will help you know what to expect at your first visit and provide important information regarding insurance, financial policies, and the link between oral and overall health.

Your First Visit: What to Expect

Your first appointment at Bedford Center for Prosthodontics is about understanding your dental needs, evaluating your oral health, and creating a customized treatment plan.

1. Comprehensive Consultation

We will discuss your dental history, concerns, and treatment goals.
A thorough oral examination will be performed, which may include digital X-rays or Cone Beam CT imaging to assess your teeth, gums, and jawbone.
If needed, we will take digital impressions for accurate treatment planning—no messy molds required.
We will also review records from referring dental offices and coordinate care to ensure a seamless treatment experience.

2. Personalized Treatment Plan

Based on your exam and imaging, we will discuss your treatment options and answer any questions you may have.
If you're a candidate for dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, or full-mouth reconstruction, we will outline the process, timing, and expected results.
We will provide an estimate of costs, including an insurance breakdown if applicable.

3. Comfortable & Stress-Free Care

We understand that some patients feel anxious about dental treatments. Our team is trained to provide a calming, professional experience.
If you require sedation dentistry, we will discuss your options.
At the end of your first visit, you will have a clear understanding of your oral health, recommended treatments, and financial options.

Insurance & Financial Information

At Bedford Center for Prosthodontics, we strive to make your dental care accessible and transparent. Below, you’ll find details about insurance policies, financing options, and payment methods.

Insurance Policy

Dental insurance works differently than medical insurance. While some procedures may be covered, the amount paid by your insurance provider varies based on your plan.

We will provide an estimated breakdown of your coverage based on the information provided by your insurance company.

This estimate is not a guarantee of benefits, as final payment is determined by your provider.

As a courtesy, we file insurance claims on your behalf. However, financial responsibility ultimately rests with the patient.

If your insurance company pays less or more than estimated, you will be billed the difference or issued a credit.

Have questions about insurance? Our team is happy to assist you in understanding your benefits.

Financial Policy & Payment Options

We offer flexible payment options to accommodate different budgets.

Accepted Payment Methods:
  • Cash
  • Debit cards
  • Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express
Financing Options:
  • CareCredit® – A healthcare financing option that allows you to pay over time with flexible monthly payments.

  • Proceed Finance – A lending solution for larger dental procedures, offering low-interest financing plans.

If you would like to discuss payment plans or financing options, please let us know before your treatment begins.

Appointment Cancellations & Rescheduling

We understand that schedules change. However, to best serve all patients, we ask that you provide at least 48 hours' notice if you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment.

Appointments canceled less than 24 hours in advance may be subject to a cancellation fee.

This policy allows us to accommodate other patients in need of care.

Discover Our Advanced Facilities for Exceptional Patient Care

Research continues to reveal connections between oral health and systemic diseases. Routine dental care not only protects your teeth but may also lower your risk for serious health conditions.

Gum Disease & Systemic Diseases

Although studies are ongoing, gum disease (periodontitis) has been linked to several health conditions, including:

Diabetes:

Gum disease may make blood sugar harder to control, and diabetics are at a higher risk for severe gum infections.

Osteoporosis:

Bone loss in the jaw can contribute to tooth loss, much like osteoporosis affects the body’s skeletal system.

Respiratory Disease:

Bacteria from the mouth can be inhaled into the lungs, potentially contributing to conditions like pneumonia.

Cancer:

Research from the American Academy of Periodontology suggests that men with gum disease are more likely to develop kidney, pancreatic, and blood cancers.

Heart Disease & Stroke:

Scientists are exploring potential links between gum disease and cardiovascular conditions.

At every visit, our team monitors your oral health for early signs of disease, helping you take proactive steps to protect your overall well-being.
